Are you looking to escape the daily grind, discover your next favourite author, and drink/dine with some of the coolest bookish souls in Munich? You’ve found your pack.
Since we officially launched on September 1st, 2022, the Gray Fox Book Club has grown from a cosy idea into a vibrant community of 71 committed, active members. From exploring the global perspectives of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Dream Count, finding cosy wisdom in What You Are Looking for Is in the Library, to travelling through time in The Ministry of Time, we read 12 incredible books a year from every corner of the globe.
Rules of Engagement
How we roll:
First Thursday of Every Month @ 19:00: This is our golden hour. No moving dates, no scheduling nightmares.
Write it in ink on your calendar!
Central Munich Restaurants:
We meet in person at centrally located, easy-to-reach Munich eateries (from local beer gardens to cosy spots like Hans im Glück). We eat, we drink, and we get lively.
The Golden Rule of 30:
While our community is strong, we strictly cap our monthly RSVP lists at 30 people per event. This ensures everyone actually gets to talk, laugh, and fit around the table without needing a megaphone.
Structured but Fun:
No awkward silences here! We discuss our monthly read in small groups using curated, structured questions, so everyone’s voice gets heard.
Small RSVP Fee Required
To help ensure that everyone who RSVPs attends, we charge a small registration fee for each event. These contributions also help us add thoughtful touches—such as décor, treats, and little favours—that make every Gray Fox Book Club gathering feel special for all our members.
Who can join?
Whether you’re a busy parent sneaking in some audiobook chapters while folding laundry, an expat looking for their tribe, or a lifelong local looking for brilliant conversation, there is no snobbery here. Just great books, global voices, and fantastic company.

Join the Gray Fox Book Club
We run our book club through Meetup, where you can apply to join our community and sign up for upcoming events.
To join, simply complete our short questionnaire on Meetup and make sure your profile includes a profile photo. One of our team members will review your application and approve your membership.
Once approved, you’ll be able to RSVP for our upcoming book club meetings and events.
We charge a small RSVP fee for each event. This helps us make sure people take their booking seriously, reduces last-minute no-shows, and allows us to plan properly for the group.
Then all that’s left to do is grab the book, read it and come along, and join the conversation.
